Connecting to HP Helion

HP Helion

HP Helion is HP’s block storage offering running on OpenStack.

You can use ExpanDrive to connect to your HP Helion projects containing your networked compute instances. You will need to specify the appropriate identity server (US West or US East currently), username/password, and project name (container for networked instances).

Why ExpanDrive:

ExpanDrive gives you the opportunity to connect to your HP Helion projects using a familiar file browser interface native to your OS.

To connect to HP Helion

  1. From the ExpanDrive window, click on Add.
  2. Click on HP Helion. The configuration screen is displayed.

  4. Configure the fields as described in the table below.
  5. Parameter Description
    identity server US West or US east
    username Username to access HP Helion services.
    project name Name assigned to the project that you would like to access.

    Projects in HP Helion house the networked compute instances that provide object storage and access to files and data.

    password HP Helion password
    nickname Optional nickname to identify the connection.
    remote path An optional remote path that you specify, if you would like to map to a specific directory.
    drive letter Drive letter which expanDrive will map to your rackspace cloud files.
  6. Click on Validate Credentials.
  7. You will be prompted to select the appropriate region from the dropdown menu.

    eg. region-b.geo-1

  8. Click on Connect.

ExpanDrive connects to the service, and the file browser interface native to your OS will open upon a successful connection.
